Tibor Kallos, who attempted to become Arizona's starting kicker as a walk-on, has left the team.

UA head coach Dick Tomey said Kallos, who kicked for Phoenix College last year, could not afford the expenses of school without a scholarship.

For most of Camp Cochise, Kallos showed a lot of promise, moving ahead of veterans T.J. Rodriguez and Tim Ferlan with his accuracy and distance. Kallos even went as far as guarunteeing that he would win the kicking position.

As of late, however, Kallos struggled getting his kicks off quickly enough and losing accuracy when he did get a kick off too quickly. During last Friday's controlled scrimmage, Kallos didn't even make an attempt. Tomey used Rodriguez and Ferlan and afterward called them the two best kickers on the squad, announcing one of them would start Thursday in Oregon.
