By John Brown Police BeatUniversity police responding to a 911 hang up call Friday found a male student who allegedly had been assaulted in his room at Apache-Santa Cruz Residence Hall, 1420 E. Fifth St. On their way to the hall, police received another call from someone reporting six "disorderly" people outside the student's room. The student told police he got "beat up" but would not elaborate on what happened and refused to talk to officers, police reports stated. A male student reported he was rousted Thursday morning by a harassing phone call from a man offering sexual favors. The student told university police that the man called the residence hall room about 6:50 a.m. and asked, "What's up, are you sleeping ?" The man said he was Kevin from across the hall, however, according to police reports, there is no Kevin living across the hall. The student told police the man went on to say, "Is your dick hanging out? I want to come over and suck you off." The student hung up. University police arrested two men on drug and alcohol charges Saturday after making a traffic stop at East Speedway Boulevard and North Park Avenue. According to police reports, an officer was talking to one of the men, Michael Whimper, 19, of the 400 block of East Yavapai Road, when he smelled what he thought was marijuana on his clothes. The officer had Whimper get out of the car and found 3.7 grams of what he suspected was marijuana in Whimper's pockets, reports stated. He was cited and released on marijuana possession charges. Meanwhile, another officer spotted three half-full bottles of "Mad Dog 20/20" grape wine on the passenger side floor board, reports stated. The passenger admitted to drinking some of the wine. He told police his name was 19-year-old "Kevin Ware" but couldn't tell officers how to spell his last name. "Ware" was arrested on a minor consuming alcohol charge and taken to Pima County Jail. At the jail, "Ware" signed the booking sheet as "Matt Cox." The officer then added a charge of false reporting and he was booked into the jail as "John Doe" A employee reported several computer components stolen last week from the Faculty Center, 1400 E. Mabel St. The employee told university police a floppy drive, hard drive, CD-ROM drive, two memory chips and a modem were among the items missing. Police found two broken windows on the east side of the house and a third window that had been pulled open on the house's south side. The employee told police a man came in to use the restroom the day before the theft. The value of the stolen items was unknown. A student reported Friday that her backpack was stolen after she left it in the Marvel Laboratories building, 1213 E. South Campus Drive. The student told university police she left the pack in a third floor lab at 12:50 p.m. and that when she came back at 1:30 p.m. it was gone. According to police reports, there were a lot of people in the lab and the student believed it would be safe. The pack contained a $120 calculator, a $200 pair of glasses, her wallet and her keys. A woman suffered abrasions on her face last week after she tripped on a skewed portion of the sidewalk near the Ina Gittings Building, 1713 E. University Blvd. According to police reports, the woman was walking near the bike racks west of the building the morning of Oct. 14 when she stumbled and fell.
