UA senior Vicky Maes begins play today in the singles draw of the All-American Tennis Championships at the Riviera Tennis Center in Pacific Palisades, Calif.

However, Maes and senior Betsy Miringoff failed to qualify for the main doubles draw of the tournament, losing to Zsofia Csapop and Angela Lawrence of Pepperdine yesterday evening 7-6, 5-7, 6-2.

Earlier in the day, Miringoff and Maes defeated ASU's Reka Cseresnyes and Kerry Giardino of 6-7, 6-4, 6-2. The duo defeated Michigan's Brooke Hart and Danielle Lund 6-7, 6-4, 6-1 on Tuesday.

Maes, who is the 6th-seeded player in the tournament, faces Jennifer Hall of Notre Dame in the first round of the singles today and will play again later in the day if she advances.
