Staff Reports Tuesday's Tidbits
With the last 250 student season basketball tickets available yesterday morning (those that were not claimed by lottery-winners) on a first come-first serve basis, die-hard UA fans began lining up outside the McKale ticket office as early as 2 a.m. Numbers securing one of the 125 sets were passed out around 5:45 a.m., dashing the hopes of many fans who arrived later in the morning. By noon, every season ticket was sold. But not all hope is lost for students. Individual game tickets for home games are available the week prior at the Gallagher Box Office for 100 non-lottery-winning students - one per ID card though. Another bonus for students is from Dec. 1-5, when only UA students can buy the winter recess games - Marathon (exhibition), the Bank One Fiesta Bowl Classic, UCLA, USC, ASU, and New Mexico - before the tickets are opened to the public. Tickets are $4 each for students and $18 for guests. No dice for season tickets holders, however, for these games... Icecat senior center and co-captain Ben Ruston scored a total of seven goals in two games this weekend against the St. Louis Billikens. NHL stars Eric Lindros of the Philadelphia Flyers and Joe Sakic of the Colorado Avalanche have also scored seven goals apiece this season, but that is in 10 and 11 games, respectively. Ruston had 20 goals all last season and is on pace to finish the season with 98 goals...

Prior to Saturday's Red-Blue basketball scrimmage, the athletic department is holding a tribute to recognize all Wildcat fans with the raising of a jersey, bearing the number one, to the rafters. The women's golf team finished third at the Stanford Intercollegiate Tournament in Palo Alto, Calif. The Wildcats shot a 10-over-par 886 for the weekend tournament, finishing behind Stanford and ASU. Individually, Krissie Register shot an even-par 219 for the tournament, tying for 7th-place. Heather Graff placed 13th after a 3-over-par 222.
