By Brian Howell Ticket distribution unfairEditor: Monday morning I awoke bright and early to see what chance I had to purchase one of the remaining 250 student basketball season-tickets. However, when I arrived at 7 a.m. at McKale, I was surprised to find that numbered stubs had been given out to 150 people in line before me. Normally this policy would be acceptable, except for the fact that I was one of many people in line early last monday (Oct. 20 was the original distibution date) and we were told that no vouchers, stubs, or guarantees of any kind would be distributed to ensure our spots in line. It seems that this is yet another example of this university's attempts to pull the wool over their students' eyes. Policy changes are made without informing students, and without the slightest care for student interests. One thing is said, and the opposite is done. I understand how difficult it must be to distribute to tickets for a national champion basketball team, especially when a new crop of fair-weather fans appeared after last season. I have been at this school for 4 years now, and I ask the question- Where were all of these "fans" last year or the year before? Are they at all of the football games? No, of course not, because our football team is not the national champions. Brian Howell |
