Union fee is excessive

Editor:

It appears as I am one of the few students here opposed to the new student union fee and construction. I think that the student union is fine and if the state and the alumni want a new let them pay for it not us. On my first day at this college I never said "Hmm, I really wish I could pay more money to attend class and have a new student union."

Secondly it will not be finished for at least 5 to 10 years and if you think that the State does construction quickly go look at the Modern Language building sometime. By the time the project is finnished students will use it another 10 years and now its time for a new one. This $40 fee will last 25 years!

Now I hear that if they do this remodel then they will have to tear down the Gallagher? That really sucks. Since they knew that they were going to tear it down they should have moved it down to the old Loft, but then where would the frat guys park?

So I have a plan to allow the university all the money they want and they can build anything that the students dont ask for: Make tution around $50,000 a year and then the University will pay the money that they did not use back to you when you leave. The University would get to build and build more new things and the students would not have to worry about fees anymore.

I know that there is no way in hell that this letter will be published (because you guys support the fees) but I though that could show you how stupid the fees are.
