A university employee brought a "bong" to university police headquarters, 1200 E. Lowell St., yesterday after he picked it up at East Fourth Street and North Highland Avenue.

The employee told officers he was walking on North Campbell Avenue when an unidentified student told him there was "paraphernalia" under a nearby bench, according to police reports.

The employee found the glass bong with a metal bowl and metal inhaling pipe under the bench and immediately took them to the main station, reports stated.


A university employee called police yesterday after finding a car with the driver's-side window shattered and a smashed steering column.

The employee, a maintenance supervisor, found the 1989 Chevrolet sedan at about 5:20 p.m. parked near Campbell Farms, 4101 N. Campbell Ave., police reports stated.

Officers reportedly notified the owner of the car and were told he had reported the theft to Tucson police.

Officers did not find any fingerprints on the car.

The owner told police he was unable to pick up the vehicle and it was taken by Frontier Towing to an impound yard.

The values of the window and the steering column were unknown.


An employee called university police after seeing a man steal a street sign from a gate near the Shantz Building, 1200 E. South Campus Drive.

The employee reportedly told police he was cleaning on the south side of the building when he saw a late-model black Ford Bronco pull up. A man got out, removed the sign and put it in his car, police reports stated.

According to reports, the employee saw the car drive east on South Campus Drive.

Police searched the area but did not find the Bronco.

The value of the sign was unknown.


A 16-year-old Tucson boy was arrested in connection with a skateboarding incident at about 9 a.m. Friday near the Arizona State Museum North, 1013 E. University Blvd.

University police reportedly saw the youth and four other Tucson boys skateboarding and warned them about skateboarding on campus.

Officers discovered that the 16-year-old had been warned by police five times before about skateboarding, police reports stated.

He was charged with interfering with the peaceful conditions of an education institution, taken to the university police headquarters and released to his mother.


A male student called university police Friday after discovering his bike missing from a rack near Old Main, 1200 E. University Blvd.

The student reportedly parked his maroon Fuji 12-speed mountain bike in the rack and secured it with a U-lock about 7 p.m. Wednesday.

When he returned just after 10 p.m. it was gone, police reports stated.

The bike and U-lock were valued at $530.
