Police Beat

A male student called university police Friday after seeing a man skateboard up to a late-model sedan and kneel next to it. The student then heard air rush from the tire in a parking lot near Coronado Residence Hall, 822 E. Fifth St.

The student told officers he saw the man next to the car about 12:35 p.m., police reports stated. The student told officers the man left the parking lot heading west.

Officers reportedly left a note for the owner of the car.

The owner, a female student, told officers she parked the car in lot 5070, south of Coronado about 8:30 a.m., police reports stated. When she came back at 10 p.m. she found the note from officers and two tires were flat.

The student told officers she called an automobile association and was told the tires had been slashed with a sharp object of some sort.

The tires were valued at $62 each.


A male student called university police Tuesday after seeing another student walk by his room Monday and rip a name tag and other fliers from his door in Cochise Hall, 1018 E. South Campus Drive.

The student told officers he saw a former Cochise Hall resident through the peep hole of his door.

The former resident walked by the room and ripped the signs down, police reports stated.

The student told officers he did not want to press charges.


University police found three parking lot arm gates broken Wednesday near East Second Street and North Palm Drive.

Officers found the broken gates at lot 1 and other nearby lots during a routine patrol just after 4 a.m., police reports stated.

Officers reportedly notified University of Arizona Parking and Transportation Services to have the gates replaced.

The gates were valued at more than $30 each.


Two bicycles were reported stolen earlier this week.

A female student called university police Wednesday after finding her Trek Jazz mountain bike missing from racks near the Main Library, 1510 E. University Blvd.

The student told officers she locked her bike with a cable lock to a rack on the north side of the library at about 2 p.m.

When she returned at 3 p.m., the bike and lock were gone.

The stolen items were valued at $420.

In a separate incident, a male student called university police Thursday after finding his Megna 10-speed bicycle missing from a bike rack near East Second Street and North Euclid Avenue.

The student told officers he parked and cable-locked his bike on the rack about 7:30 a.m. When he returned at 11:30 a.m., the bike and lock were gone.

The bike and lock were valued at $95.


A female student called university police Wednesday after finding a Zone One parking permit missing from her 1989 Nissan Sentra.

The student told officers she parked her car in lot 8109 near East Sixth Street and North Cherry Avenue about 9 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, police reports stated.

She returned to her car about 5 p.m., and found the permit missing.

She reportedly told officers she had forgotten to lock the rear left side door when she left the vehicle.

Nothing else was missing from the car.

The permit was valued at $160.
