Students win prizes in Homecoming showcase

UA undergraduate and graduate students were honored for their work in the 5th annual Student Showcase during Homecoming. Winners received prizes totaling over $9,000.

Ten 3-judge teams, comprised of one faculty, one student and one community representative, ranked the field.

President's Awards included:

Graduate division: Myrna Sevilla
Undergraduate division: Amy Miller

Undergraduate division first-place winners:

  • Francoise Blanchere - agriculture, ecology and environmental sciences
  • Christine Griffin and Nicole Kessler - visual and performing arts
  • Amy Stewart Martin - humanities, literature and languages
  • Cynthia McGahucy - social and behavioral sciences and education
  • James Baron - mathematics, computer engineering and physics
  • Stacey Kolina - architecture, planning landscape and civil engineering
  • Amy Miller - nursing, pharmacy and medicine
  • Scott Golpher - engineering

Graduate division first-place winners:

  • Myrna Sevilla - agriculture, ecology and environmental sciences
  • Tzu-hua "Mimi" Chen - visual and performing arts
  • Teresa Reber - humanities, literature and languages
  • Carolyn Smith - social and behavioral sciences and education
  • Mary Edwards and Gill Roehrig - mathematics, computer engineering and physics
  • Himanshu Patel, Dennis Silva, Kareem Thermil, Suresh Pokharel, Karen Lamberton, Owen Long and James Bryant - architecture, planning landscape and civil engineering
  • Paula Ohlendorf - business and public administration and economics
  • Robert Dumas - nursing, pharmacy and medicine
  • Jim Collins - engineering
