University police arrested a Tucson man for shoplifting Wednesday after he was seen trying to take a piece of fish from the Fiddlee Fig Eatery at the Memorial Student Union, 1303 E. University Blvd.

The restaurant manager told officers she saw Edwin Campbell, 47, of the 700 block of South Stone Avenue, put a codfish nugget in the front pocket of his pants just after 5:30 p.m., police reports stated.

Campbell reportedly put several fish nuggets on a plate and then put one in his pants pocket. When the employee asked Campbell about the nugget, he took it out of his pocket and agreed to pay for the meal, police reports stated.

Campbell told officers the nugget fell into his pocket from the plate, police reports stated.

According to reports Campbell's pants had a flap over the pockets that would have made it difficult for the nugget to fall in the pocket.

Campbell was cited for theft and released at the scene.


A 25-year-old man was arrested by university police Wednesday on drug charges.

Officers saw Lawrence Clevenger of the 700 block of East Elm Street riding a bike north near North Park Avenue and East University Boulevard just after 5 p.m., police reports stated. He was wheeling another bike along side him.

Clevenger told officers he had been evicted from his apartment on East Elm Street and was taking the bike to a friends house, police reports stated.

He told officers they could search him and he did not have any weapons, needles or drugs, police reports stated.

Officers found a cigarette pack with a hypodermic needle in it, police reports stated. Clevenger also had a 3/4 inch by 1/4 inch piece of paper he identified as acid.

He told officers he bought the acid from a friend for $15.

A test on the paper revealed it was indeed acid.

Clevenger was charged with narcotics and drug paraphernalia possession along with an outstanding warrant for theft. He was taken to Pima County Jail.


A female student called university police Wednesday after finding black marker scribbled on the hood of her white 1995 Chevrolet Blazer.

The student told officers she parked her car at 5:30 p.m. in lot #6019 at East Sixth Avenue and North Highland Avenue, police reports stated.

When she came back about 9:20 p.m. she found the writing on the hood.

The value of the damage was unknown.


A female student called university police Wednesday after discovering her wallet was missing after she lost it on a bench outside the Administration building, 1401 E. University Blvd.

The student told officers she sat on the bench from 10 to 10:30 a.m., police reports stated.

She later said she realized it was missing about 10:45 a.m., police reports stated.

When she went back to the bench her wallet was gone.

The value of the wallet and contents was more than $55.


University police got a call from a male student Wednesday after a Zone 1 parking permit was taken from his 1988 Plymouth Voyager.

The student told officers he parked his car at 9:30 a.m. in lot #4053 at East Speedway Boulevard and North Cherry Avenue, police reports stated.

When he came back at 4 p.m. the permit was gone.

According to reports, the student told officers he did not know if the car was locked and nothing else was taken from the car.

The permit was valued at $160.


A male student called university police Tuesday after someone broke into his 1988 Toyota Cressida.

The student told officers he parked his car at 1 a.m. in a parking lot near Arizona-Sonora Residence Hall, 910 E. Fifth St., police reports stated.

When he returned at 2 p.m. the glove compartment was off the hinges.

The student told officers his proof of insurance, registration and a Reebok jacket were taken from the car.

The student told officers he did not remember if he locked the door.

The value of the jacket and other items was unknown.
