By Alicia A. Caldwell Police BeatA female student called university police Wednesday after finding the driver's side window of her 1992 Toyota Paseo smashed. The student reportedly parked and locked her car just after 8 a.m. Tuesday in lot #4053 at East Speedway Boulevard and North Vine Avenue. She told officers she drove past the lot at about 5 p.m. and there was no damage to her car, police reports stated. According to reports, she returned to the lot at 7:15 a.m. Wednesday, and found the window smashed and a Sony compact disc stereo partially removed from the console. Nothing else was missing or damaged, police reports stated. The value of the window and the damages was unknown. University police got a call from a female employee Wednesday after someone hit her 1988 Toyota MR-2 and left the scene. The employee told officers she parked her car in a lot near East Seventh Street and North Highland Avenue Wednesday morning, police reports stated. According to reports, she returned to her car at 5:45 p.m. and as she began to back out of the space heard a noise coming from the front of the car. She got out to check the car and notice the front left corner had been dented in toward the wheel, police reports stated. She told officers she did not know what type of vehicle hit her car, police reports stated. The value of the damage was unknown. University police got a call from Tucson Police Department Thursday about a UA-owned hand radio that was found. Officers charged the radio and traced it to a UA Vending Services employee, police reports stated. Vending services was contacted and told officers the radio had been assigned to a former employee who lost it in July 1997, police reports stated. The employee reportedly told officers a report had not been made about the missing radio because it was older and could be replaced for $600. The radio was released to a Vending Services employee. A female employee called university police Monday after finding a broken window at the Arizona State Museum North, 1013 E. University Blvd. The window was reportedly broken sometime between 1:30 and 3 p.m. According to police reports, the alarm in the room was off during this time. The employee told officers the alarm would have sensed the breaking glass had it been working, police reports stated. The employee told officers she did not see anyone around the window, police reports stated. The value of the window was unknown. University police got a call from a female employee Monday after her backpack and its contents were taken from the Main Library, 1510 E. University Blvd. The employee told officers she was reshelving books on the fourth floor just before 6 p.m. and she left her Jansport backpack on the book cart, police reports stated. She reportedly left the cart for five minutes. When she returned the backpack and its contents were gone, police reports stated. The items were valued at more than $40. A male student called university police Nov. 8 after seeing a man take a wooden bench from the south side of Cochise Residence Hall, 1018 E. South Campus Drive. The student reportedly saw a brown El Camino sedan of an unknown year pull up to the hall at about 3:30 a.m. He told officers one of the occupants of the car got out and put the bench in the back of the El Camino, police reports stated. The car was seen turning north from South Campus Drive, police reports stated. Officers circled the area but did not see the El Camino. The value of the bench was unknown.
