University police arrested a 48-year-old man on disturbing the peace charges Friday after two female students saw him "playing with himself" on the fourth floor of the Main Library, 1510 E. University Blvd., police reports stated.

Gerald Evans of Long Beach, Calif., was arrested at about 12:15 p.m. and reportedly told police he was not a student.

Officers asked Evans what he was doing in the library and he said, "I'm very nervous and I am just studying," police reports stated.

He told officers he did not know why he was so nervous, police reports stated.

Officers reportedly told Evans several people had seen him playing with himself in the library.

He responded, "I'm worried, I've never done this before. I'm very lonely and I was playing with myself," police reports stated.

Evans was cited for disturbing the peace and taken to Pima County Jail.


Two vehicles were stolen from UA-owned property late last week.

A female employee called university police Friday after finding her 1991 Dodge Shadow convertible missing from a parking lot near the 22nd Street Warehouse, 1145 S. Warren Ave.

The employee told officers she parked her car on the south side of the building just before 2 p.m., police reports stated.

She came back to the parking space at 8 p.m. and the car was gone, police reports stated.

The employee reportedly told officers there were several cuts in the convertible top that would have made access to the car very easy.

The value of the car was unknown.

In a separate incident, a Tucson man called university police Friday after he discovered his 1988 Pontiac 6000 missing from a parking lot at East Mabel Avenue and North Warren Avenue.

He told police he parked the car at 8 a.m. in lot #2031. When he came back at 5 p.m. the car was gone, police reports stated.

The man told officers he locked the car when he parked it, police reports stated.

According to police reports, a parking lot attendant in the lot adjacent to lot #2031 said he did not see anything.

The value of the car was unknown.


University police got a call from a male employee Thursday about a golf cart stolen from Yuma Residence Hall, 1107 E. North Campus Drive.

The employee told officers he parked the 1995 EZGO golf cart in front of Yuma Hall at 1:30 p.m., police reports stated.

When he came back at 1:50 p.m. the cart was gone, police reports stated.

A female student reportedly saw the cart on her way to class at 1:30 p.m. A male student told officers he did not see the cart at 1:50 p.m. when he walked by the residence hall, police reports stated.

Officers found the cart at 4:30 p.m. near Yokohama Rice Bowl, 5402 E. Speedway Blvd., police reports stated.

According to police reports, the cart was undamaged.


A male student called university police Friday after two windows were broken at the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity house, 1510 N. Vine Ave.

The student told officers he saw two men throw a chair into the windows, shattering them both, police reports stated.

The two men reportedly ran south to Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity house, 1420 N. Vine Ave. Officers searched the area but did not find anyone matching the description.

The windows were valued at $1,000.


A male student called university police Friday after his wallet was stolen from his Delta Tau Delta fraternity house room, 1550 N. Vine Ave.

The student told officers he went to sleep at 4 a.m. with two other people in his room, leaving the door unlocked, police reports stated.

He woke up at 6 a.m. and found the door open and his wallet and other items missing, police reports stated.

The student told officers his wallet was taken from his pants pocket as well as two watches from his desk and his roommate's desk.

The value of the wallet and watches was more than $250.
