Inger Airheart, UA's freshman goalkeeper, was named first team All-Pacific 10 Conference. Airheart is the first Wildcat to earn first team honors. Playing every minute of this season, Airheart set UA single-season school records in shutouts (six), lowest goals-against average (1.50), and fewest goals allowed (31) in leading the team to its best-ever 8-11-1 overall record.

Washington State quarterback Ryan Leaf and Arizona State linebacker Pat Tillman were named Pac-10 offensive and defensive players of the year. WSU head coach Mike Price was named coach of the year.

UA honorable mention Pac-10 players included, linebacker Chester Burnett, center Rusty James, safety Rashee Johnson, linebacker Jimmy Sprotte, defensive end Mike Szlauko, and wide receiver Rodney Williams. All of the players mentioned are seniors.

Times the Arizona football team has defeated Arizona State in the all-time series between the schools. Saturday will be the 71st meeting of what has been dubbed "The Dual in the Desert". The all-time series stands at 40-29-1 with the Wildcats leading.
