By L. Anne Newell UA official resigns to take UConn job
Susan Steele, associate vice president for undergraduate education, accepted a position with the University of Connecticut in late October. "I'll miss the people and I'll miss the University," she said. Steele began work at the University of Arizona in 1976 and went on to work as an assistant professor and administrator before moving to her current job 11/2 years ago. "The way I looked at it, I had three choices: to return to faculty, remain in my current position or move on to another position," she said. Steele said she'll be in an environment she knows and enjoys, because Connecticut is a Research I university. She will become the university's vice provost for undergraduate education. During her time as a UA associate vice president, Steele was instrumental in standardizing the UA's general education requirements. "Her administrative talents will be sorely missed, as will her numerous contributions to curriculum and instruction," said Michael Gottfredson, vice president for undergraduate education.
