Shrouded sculpture a testimony to AIDS crisis

Artwork campuswide, from paintings to sculptures, will be shrouded today to commemorate the worldwide AIDS epidemic, a student organizer said.

The UA will participate today in "A Day Without Art," the ninth annual international day of action and mourning that coincides with the World Health Organization's international World AIDS Day, said Hameed Shaukat, chairman of the University Activities Bo ard Arts Committee. Sponsored by UAB Arts and the Eye on Diversity committees, the UA is joined in its observance by cultural and AIDS service organizations, about 4,500 of which participated last year.

Observances last year ranged from panel discussions and performance programs to shrouding art and distributing condoms.
