By Jennifer Collins Don't hail MaryEditor: The most truthful statement in Erin Stein's article, "Hail Mary," is as follows. The idea that Mary should share status with Jesus Christ isn't from "loonies on the fringe." It is from loonies in the center. Although it may be "Dogma" passed by the infallable pope, one must realize that the pope is only a man, and the only word that is infallable is the word of Jesus Christ. That's right people, The Holy Bible. Let's address first, Mary's "perpetual virginity." "Is not the carpenter(Jesus), the son of Mary, the brother of James and Joses and of Juda and Simon?" (Mark 6:3) Well, there goes that theory. Next let's address Mary's assention into heaven body and soul. The bible sights that only three peolple ascended into heaven body and soul. Jesus, Elijah, and Enoch. Mary's death isn't even mentioned in the Bible. The subject at hand though is the current "Dogma" under petition. Should Mary be considered the path to Jesus? The answer is no. Let's address this through a simple analogy. When you are sick you call the doctor, not his mom. "...by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God." Not Mary. So, as Ms. Stein put it "read your Bible!" All the answers are there.
