University police arrested two 19-year-old transients on liquor charges Tuesday after officers saw another person buy beer for them.

Zach Mecreek of a general delivery address and Sara Jessop of Seattle, Wash. were arrested after officers saw an unidentified man purchase a 12-pack of Red Dog Beer at 6:25 p.m. at 7-Eleven, 1750 E. Speedway Blvd., police reports stated.

The man reportedly left the parking lot before officers arrived and no one caught the license plate number, police reports stated.

Officers spoke to Mecreek and Jessop and they both said they were 19 years old.

According to police reports, Jessop gave officers the beer from her backpack and told them she had hitchhiked from Seattle and only had been in Tucson for four days.

Mecreek reportedly told officers the man bought the beer, but that he did not know who the man was.

He told officers they could search him and they found a hypodermic needle in his front pocket, police reports stated.

Mecreek told officers he had found the needle but did not use heroin, police reports stated. He added he was homeless.

Mecreek and Jessop were cited for minors in possession of alcohol and taken to Pima County Jail.


A male student called university police Tuesday after finding his Sony compact disc player missing from his car.

The student told officers he parked his 1988 Nissan Pathfinder at 6 p.m. in the Zone 1 lot near the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity house, 1801 E. First St.

According to police reports, the disc player was missing when he returned to the car at 8:15 p.m. He told officers the car was locked when he left and when he came back.

Nothing else was missing and there was no damage, police reports stated.

The CD player was valued at $400.


University police got a call from a male employee Monday after his briefcase was stolen from a parked van at the Arizona Materials Lab, 4715 E. Fort Lowell Road.

The employee told officers he parked the van in the parking lot and locked the doors at 2 p.m., police reports stated.

When he came back at 2:30, the passenger side window was broken and the briefcase was gone, police reports stated.

Nothing else was missing and there was no other damage, according to police reports.

The value of the briefcase and the damages was unknown.


A female student called university police Sunday, Nov. 23, after finding her parking permit missing from her car.

The student told officers she parked her car at 9 p.m. Saturday in a lot near East First Street and North Cherry Avenue, police reports stated.

According to police reports, she returned at 7 p.m. Sunday and the permit was gone. She told officers she locked the doors and there was no duplicate key, police reports stated.

The student told officers the only other person in the car was her ex-boyfriend, police reports stated.

He was reportedly "fiddling" with the rearview mirror, where the permit was hanging. She said he has been known to take things from her in the past, police reports stated.

She reportedly called the man to ask about the permit and he immediately hung up on her.

Officers were trying to contact him, police reports stated.

Nothing else was missing from the car and there was no other damage, police reports stated.

The permit's value was unknown.


A male student called university police Monday after finding his cellular phone missing.

The student told officers he was playing pool at Sam's Place in the Memorial Student Union, 1303 E. University Blvd., at about 9 p.m. Saturday when he put his jacket, with the phone in a pocket, under a table, police reports stated.

He told police he believes he left the jacket unattended when he went to get a soda.

He left Sam's Place at 1 a.m. Sunday and the phone was missing from the pocket, police reports stated.

The Samsung SCH100 cellular phone and the leather case it was in were valued at $170.
