University police arrested two Tucson residents on drug and other charges Sunday night after a routine traffic stop.

Officers arrested Robert Grassbrook, 20, of the 2200 block of West Sunset Trailer and a 16-year-old Tucson girl after seeing a 1996 Chevrolet Corsica in which they were passengers drive east on East Speedway Boulevard at 75 mph just after 2 a.m., police reports stated.

Officers stopped the car at 2810 E. Speedway and noticed the Grassbrook trying to hide something in his pocket, police reports stated.

Grassbrook told police he was not hiding anything, police reports stated.

When Grassbrook emptied his pockets and officers found a silver pipe with suspected marijuana residue in the bowl.

As officers were handcuffing Grassbrook, the girl began yelling, "What the fuck are you doing, it's my shit," police reports stated.

The girl reportedly grabbed at officers and continued to yell.

She began swinging her arms and legs while officers attempted to arrest her, police reports stated.

According to police reports the girl hit officers several times.

The girl was arrested on charges of aggravated assault, resisting arrest and hindering prosecution and was taken to Pima County Juvenile Criminal Court.

Grassbrook was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and minor in possession of alcohol and released at the scene.


A 23-year-old Tucson woman was arrested on liquor charges Sunday after officers saw the 1997 Toyota Corolla she was driving speed and run several stop signs near East Speedway Boulevard and North Park Avenue.

Officers saw Sharon Stockton, of the 7500 block of East Estrella, and a man come out of Circle K, 3155 E. Speedway Blvd., just before midnight Saturday, and throw something on the ground, police reports stated.

The clerk told officers the man was very belligerent and both he and Stockton were intoxicated, police reports stated.

Police followed the car east on East Drachman Avenue and paced the car at 52 mph, police reports stated.

Officers reportedly followed Stockton until she came to a stop on North Fourth Avenue, just north of Speedway.

Stockton had failed to stop for four stop signs, police reports stated.

When officers approached the car, they smelled alcohol on Stockton's breath and her words were slurred, police reports stated.

Stockton submitted to field sobriety tests and was taken to UAPD where, at 12:54 a.m., Intoxilyzer test indicated Stockton had a blood alcohol concentration at about 0.23. The legal limit is 0.1.

Stockton was cited for driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a B.A.C. above 0.10 and criminal speeding.

A friend picked her up from the police station.


A 20-year-old student was arrested on Saturday on drug and liquor charges after university police officers pulled him over.

Police saw a 1991 Honda Civic driven by Joshua Schwartz, of the 2600 block of East Alvernon Way, stopped on East Santa Rita Avenue south of East Sixth Street, police reports stated.

Two men reportedly approached to the car and gave Schwartz a purple backpack, police reports stated.

When officers stopped Schwartz's car the other two men ran, police reports stated.

Schwartz reportedly told officers the backpack only had clothes in it. When officers opened the bag they found a large bag containing "green leafy substance" consistent with marijuana, police reports stated.

Officers also found an opened bottle of Old English beer under the front seat of the car, police reports stated.

Schwartz told officers he did not know the men who gave him the backpack and did not know that there was marijuana in it, police reports stated.

He was taken to police headquarters and submitted to an Intoxilyzer test, which revealed Schwartz had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.057 at 1:12 a.m.

He was cited for possession of marijuana, minor possessing alcohol and minor operating a vehicle with alcohol in his blood.

He was cited and released from the station.


A male student called university police Tuesday after discovering his Trek 820 Antelope mountain bike missing from a bike rack near the Main Library, 1510 E. University Blvd.

He told officers he parked and secured his bike with a cable lock at 6:30 p.m., police reports stated.

He came back at 9:15 p.m. and the bike was gone, but the cut lock was still in place, police reports stated.

The values of the bike and the lock were unknown.
