Two more students reported their rooms were burglarized while they were away from campus over winter break.

A student reported Tuesday that more than $3,000 worth of items were taken from his room at Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity house, 1420 N. Vine Ave.

The student told university police that when he arrived at the house Tuesday night, he discovered other fraternity members had found his room's door damaged and had it replaced by a maintenance man.

Because the door had been replaced, the repair man and several members had accessed the student's room prior to his return, reports stated.

According to reports, the student's old door was on the ground and appeared to have been kicked in.

The student told police his $1,500 Gibson Les Paul guitar, another $500 guitar, a 19-inch Sony television, a video recorder, a Nintendo 64 game system, several Polo shirts and other items were missing.

The student's amplifier, refrigerator and full set of golf clubs were left behind.

University police had responded to the house Dec. 24 after a report of unlocked doors at the residence, and the officer checked that all items were intact before locking up, police reports stated.

Other doors at the house had been forced open, but no additional reports were filed, police reports stated.

Another student's $1,000 stereo was missing Monday when he returned to his room at Corleone Apartments, 1330 N. Park Ave.

The student told university police he left Dec. 20 and returned Monday night to find the JVC stereo gone.

He told police carpet cleaners were scheduled to clean the carpets in the building's rooms over the break.

There were no signs of forced entry.

A routine traffic stop on East Sixth Street near North Campbell Avenue Monday night yielded two arrests.

University police spotted a late-model Ford Probe swerving between lanes near North Cherry Avenue about 11 p.m., reports stated.

A check on the driver, Arthur J. Esquiel, 23, of the 1200 block of South Sixth Avenue, revealed his driver's license had been canceled.

Esquiel was cited on a charge of possession of a canceled license and released.

The passenger, Rosa Maria Padilla, 22, of the 2100 block of North Silverbell Road, had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in court on a charge of minor in possession of alcohol.

Padilla was taken to Pima County Jail where she was released by Pre-trial Services.

A student's car was burglarized Monday night while parked in Lot 6090, east of La Paz Residence Hall, 602 N. Highland Ave.

The student told university police he parked his Ford Explorer at 11 p.m. and returned at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday to find the passenger's side window busted. The student said his radar detector and sunglasses were gone.

The detector was valued at $25 and the Ray Ban sunglasses at $100.

Two students' cars were damaged Tuesday after a third vehicle backed into the cars and took off at Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, 1050 N. Mountain Ave.

A witness to the incident told university police a white, older-model compact car hit a 1997 BMW, then drove off. Two men were in the fleeing vehicle.

According to reports, a 1988 Acura Legend was also hit, damaging its rear bumper and leaving a white paint transfer.

The BMW also had rear bumper damage. The cost of the vehicles' damage was unknown.

Police are investigating leads in the case, reports stated.

A student reported her fanny pack was stolen from an unattended area at the Science Library Monday - only to find it later in a women's rest room with nothing missing.

University police met with the student at the library about an hour after the incident.

The woman told police she left the pack at a desk on the library's ground floor at 10 a.m. and came back about 30 minutes later to find it missing.

No one in the area saw anything suspicious, reports stated.

According to reports, it was suggested that the student check the rest room to see if the pack had been ditched by the thief. The student then found the pack, with nothing missing.
