Selective morality

To the Editor:

Reading Eric Clingan's latest column ("State of the Union," Jan. 27) leaves me thinking of the selective morality he exhibits. Yes, the issues being discussed are serious ones. However, I don't think I've yet seen him go on about all the other rotten things that go on in the world, and I think he is merely parroting some conservative party line. He goes on and on about the president's alleged sex life (still unproven, although many of us are content to act as judge, jury and executioner before the evidence is presented by both sides) and what a horrible man he is. In the meantime, I don't see him going on and on about the terrible things done by other people, or about the daily injustices in life . . . although as long as it's a conservative Republican doing something wrong, he apparently won't care. If it's someone he labels as a liberal, he will suddenly see it as a moral issue affecting all humanity.
