Media blitz

To the Editor:

The Arizona Daily Wildcat, like almost every other publication in the United States, has certainly played its hand in the Clinton sex scandal media blitz. Not only was the event highlighted on the front page, but viewpoints by several writers were featured as well. However, just like all the other papers, the Wildcat missed the boat on one major issue.

Writers and celebrities of all kinds have been arguing over the ramifications of Clinton's alleged adultery and perjury. Arguments have even been giving about the possibility of impeachment. Yet it seems that everyone is completely ignoring an idea central to American law. That is the concept of innocent until proven guilty. A trial regarding Monica Lewinsky has not yet occurred. Until it does, no one knows for certain what happened in the White House. It seems a complete waste of paper to print entire columns based on speculation.

If and when President Clinton is found guilty of perjury and infidelity, I will love to read columns about the thought of impeachment. But until that day comes, I would prefer some articles based on fact.
