Police Beat

A University of Arizona employee reported the theft of a computer memory chip from a room in the Engineering building, 1127 E. North Campus Drive.

The employee discovered the RAM chip missing from a computer's central processing unit Tuesday at 10:15 a.m. It was unknown when the chip was last intact.

University police found no signs of a forced entry into the first-floor room, police reports stated.

The worker told police the room is kept locked, and that six people have keys to the door, reports stated.

The value of the chip was unknown.


A student's vehicle was stolen Wednesday morning from the parking lot north of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority house, 1435 E. Second St.

The student told university police that she locked her 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee at 4 p.m. Tuesday and returned at 10:30 a.m. the next day to find the truck missing.

According to police reports, the student's Jeep was last seen by another sorority member at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday.

There was no evidence of a break-in where the vehicle was parked.


Someone crawled through a car's hatchback Tuesday to swipe a UA parking permit from a car parked near East Seventh Street and North Highland Avenue.

A student told university police that she parked her 1987 Dodge Colt in Lot 8106 about 11 a.m. and returned at 5:20 p.m. to find the car's doors locked except for the hatchback, which was left ajar.

The permit was the only item reported missing.


A UA Facilities Management employee reported damage Monday to a garbage can holder near the Forbes Building, 1140 E. South Campus Drive.

The grounds worker noticed that the cement garbage can holder was cracked and broken at 7:45 a.m., police reports stated.

It is unknown when or how the $350 garbage can was vandalized, reports stated.
