By Fred Scantling Feel-good letter of the weekTo the Editor: Last Sunday I was on campus to attend the remembrance gathering for the loss of Professor Clara Lee Tanner of the Anthropology department. When I stepped down off the curb by the Memorial Student Union, I caught my heel and pitched forward into the street, jamming my glasses into my right eye socket and cutting it severely. The reaction was immediate. Two students helped me so that I could sit up on the curb. One gave me a compress to put on my eye, another went to call 911. In minutes, members of campus police and fire department paramedics from Engine #3 arrived. Treatment was effective and efficient. Over the objections of the paramedics, I declined a trip to the hospital and went back to my motel. All I have to show for it now is a beautiful shiner. Your response to my misfortune couldn't have been more comforting and solicitous. I would like to thank each person who had a part in my rescue and leave this thought: "The Wildcat spirit is still very much alive." Fred Scantling
