The student told university police she last saw her car at 10 p.m. Tuesday and returned at 11 the next morning to find the back window of her 1995 Acura shattered, and broken bottles surrounding her car.

Police found several dents on the passenger's side door and car hood, and two beer bottles in the back seat that were probably thrown through the window, reports stated.

A Tucson man was arrested on drunken driving charges early Wednesday after being stopped for a traffic violation near East Sixth Street and North Euclid Avenue.

At 12:37 a.m., police spotted a westbound Pontiac Grand Am driving in the left turn lane of Sixth Street about two blocks before turning on to Euclid Avenue, police reports stated.

The officer stopped the vehicle and noticed that the driver, Valgene R. Namoki, 31, of the 3200 block of East Bellevue Street, had trouble finding his license and registration, and had an odor of alcohol on his breath, police reports stated.

A records check indicated Namoki had a warrant for his arrest for failure to appear on a disorderly conduct charge, reports stated.

Namoki supported himself against the car as he got out and told police he had had about two to three beers, reports stated.

Police found two 18-packs beer of beer in the car's trunk, reports stated.

Breath tests at UAPD headquarters showed a blood alcohol level of .224 and .216 percent.

Namoki was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood alcohol level more than the legal limit of .10.

Namoki was taken to the Pima County Jail where he was released by Pre-Trial Services.

A UA professor called university police after a student told the professor he had a gun during a phone conversation Monday.

The professor told police that during the 11 a.m. phone call, the student said he wanted to postpone a meeting because it wasn't a good time for him, but the professor told the student that the matter had to be taken care of immediately.

The professor told police that the student then said his house was just robbed and he had bought a gun and was going to apply for a concealed weapons permit, reports stated.

The professor said the gun wasn't mentioned again.

A UA employee reported Wednesday that his shoes were taken from a closet in the Family Practice building, 1450 N. Cherry Ave.

The man told police the theft of his $96 Nike Uptempo shoes occurred Feb. 4 between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m., from an unlocked custodial closet on the building's first floor.

Three UA students were arrested on drug charges Wednesday night after university police spotted them lurking behind two parked vehicles near North Vine Avenue and East Sixth Street.

While driving west on Sixth Street, an officer saw two men and a woman standing next to two UA vehicles parked on the east side of the Student Recreation Center, 1400 E. Sixth St.

The officer noticed one of the men walk behind a parked vehicle and stash something on the ground, police reports stated.

The officer could smell marijuana as he walked over to the group, which consisted of Daniel R. Francis, 18, Matthew C. Amoia, 19, and Abigail C. Hedlund, 18, all residents of Apache-Santa Cruz Hall, 1420 E. Fifth St.

The officer walked behind the parked vehicle and found a plastic bag containing 3.1 grams of suspected marijuana buds and a glass bong with burnt residue in the bowl, reports stated.

Francis told the officer the items were his, and that the trio had been smoking marijuana, reports stated.

Police searched Hedlund and found a brown zip-up bag containing 1.7 grams of suspected marijuana and a small smoking pipe, reports stated.

Francis and Hedlund were arrested on charges of marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession. Amoia was cited on a charge of unlawful use of marijuana, reports stated.

All three were released at the scene.
