To the editor,

I was disappointed and angry that the Wildcat would print a cartoon portraying the idea that officers of the University of Arizona Police Department hate students.

The cartoon was titled, "How UofA Says 'I Hate You,'" by N. C. Winters. It was printed in yesterday's edition. The UA does not employ 50 police officers because they want to tell students, "I hate you." Those officers are here to protect our rights and keep us safe from harm.

Furthermore, if the author of the cartoon had done a little research they would have found that the UAPD does not issue parking tickets. The department of Parking and Transportation is responsible for ticketing all parking violations.

Most irresponsible misconceptions fuel feelings of anger and mistrust. I, for one, do not wish to see examples of this in the student newspaper.
