Where It's At

Polling stations are open today and tomorrow from 9-6. Stations are located at the Student Recreation Center, Park Student Union, Harvill Building and the Old Chemistry Building. Students need their CatCards to cast a vote.
To unopposed candidate Viviane Safrin, the office of administrative vice president is the "backbone" of ASUA's programs and services.

"I've got to choose things I can get done," said Safrin, an English literature, history and psychology sophomore who is running unopposed for the position.

Safrin said she would like to see an additional $50,000 raised for the Associated Students' Escort Service to continue serving students' needs.

"They need money, they need computer systems, they need phone lines and they need staff," she said.

Safrin, who served as ASUA's community development director this year, is also investigating the costs of hiring a second part-time attorney for the organization's legal services.

Safrin said she would like to see University of Arizona's Minority Action Council include representatives from cultural resource centers and other, non-race specific minority groups.

"I have the ability to let them feel they have a voice strong enough to make an impact," she said.

Safrin would also like to see ASUA's Speaker's Board include representatives from resource centers, the University Activities Board and the Residence Hall Association so that students are represented in the choice of speakers.

Last month, Safrin violated the ASUA elections code by soliciting support before the designated date. She was sanctioned by Elections Commissioner Anthony Hill.
