Most people think of opera as a bunch of buxom ladies sporting viking helmets. Well, Philip Glass and Robert Wilson prove most people wrong. Their show, Monsters of Grace, combines 3D animation and Sufi mystic poetry into a multimedia opera experience. It comes to Centennial Hall at 7:30 tonight. Swashbucklers beware! The Three Musketeers comes to the Gaslight Theater, 7010 E. Broadway, for an 8 p.m. preview. Regular shows begin tomorrow at 8 p.m., and run through May 29. Tickets are $11.95 for students, $13.95 for adults, and showtimes vary so call 886-9428 before Athos, Porthos, and Erasmus go away.
Fidel Castro would be proud. Cubanismo plays the Rialto Theater, 318 E. Congress, tonight at 8. But that trade embargo is costly, tickets are $18. Call 740-0126 for more info by way of Havana.

Rise and shine for the Tucson Fine Art & Wine Festival at the Tucson Mall, Oracle and Wetmore Roads from 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. Admission is free to see the Thunderbird Artists' juried exhibits, fine crafts, entertainment, and yummy food March 26-28. There is also a $10 wine tasting if you want to get started early. 293-7330 has all the answers.
Phillipe Halsman's photographs of celebrities graced the covers of magazines throughout the 1950's-'70s. The Center for Creative Photography presents a retrospective of his work with a reception this evening at 5:30. The exhibit runs through April, so call 621-7968 while there's still film in the camera.
Tucson favorite Al Perry, with Mark Insley and Tony Gilkyson (of X) and Flathead will crowd the stage of Club Congress, 311 E. Congress, at 9 p.m. Tickets are $5 to see the man without his cattle, or moove to the phone at 622-8848.

The 411 is a UA professor's son plays for one of these bands. Sun Zoom Spark, Spectro, Nervous Duane, and Ken Kunin all perform at Plaza Pub starting at 9 tonight. Since tickets are only $3 it's a pretty slick deal. Call 882-0400 and maybe they can clue you in as to which prof knows how to boogie.
Arizona Repertory Theatre's production of Shakespeare's Measure for Measure continues today and Sunday, and then it will be forever gone. Don't miss the exacting fun at 1:30 p.m. in the Laboratory Theatre. Call the UA Fine Arts Box Office at 621-1162 for ticket prices.

Andres Segovia, eat your heart out. The 18th Annual Sholin Guitar Competition starts at 2:30 p.m. today in Holsclaw Recital Hall in the Music Building. It's a free show, and MusiCall at 621-2998 will tune your strings.
Arizona Choir is the UA's premier choral group. They perform the works of Bach, Mendelssohn, and others tonight at 7:30 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1949 E. Helen. The show is free, but donations are suggested. MusiCall at 621-2998 can't teach you to sing, but will give you the info.
Modestly named, Marvelous 3 and Dovetail Joint play in a "Jim Beam Back Room Showcase" tonight at 8 at Gotham, 4385 W. Ina. Tickets to this all ages show are $5 in advance, and $6 day of show. The doors open at 8 p.m., so call 744-2099.

Skank your way down to the Rialto Theatre, 318 E. Congress, for Less Than Jake and All play at 6 p.m. because it's a school night, you know. Tickets are $10, and maybe the folks at 740-0126 can tell you who Jake is.
If you didn't get your fill of violence on network TV come see a UAB Presents double feature: Predator and Total Recall tonight and tomorrow at Gallagher at 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. It's only $2.50 for both shows. And 621-4678 will kill you if you don't call.

Celebrate the last day of the month with "Waking Ned Devine," a lovely little Irish flick about what happens when a villager wins the lottery. Hilarious hijinks ensue at Gallagher Theater through April 4 at 7:30 p.m. and 9:20 p.m., and tickets are $2.50 which may get you in on a bit of that prize.
