Movies

The following films open in Tucson this weekend:

Doug's First Movie - The animated hero of Nickelodeon's long-running hit kid's show finally makes it to the big screen.

Ed TV - Matthew McConaughey plays the unlikely recipient of massive fame in a story which combines elements of The Truman Show, MTV's Real World and more, also starring Woody Harrelson, Jenna Elfman and Elizabeth Hurley.

The Mod Squad - In this updated version of the hip seventies TV show, Claire Danes, Omar Epps and Giovanni Ribisi star as the youthful offenders who are given a second chance as undercover police operatives.

My Name Is Joe - An Irish film, directed by Ken Loach, about the relationship that develops between a recovering alcoholic and a social worker which explores the harsh realities of modern life, as well as romance.

Music

Al Perry and the Cattle play Club Congress tonight at 9, with Mark Insley and additional openers TBA. Admission is $5.

Smokey Wilson brings his brand of rockin' blues to The Rock tomorrow night. Call for more details.

Sand Rubies, Billy Sedlymeyer and Dead Hot Workshop are at the Rialto Theatre tonight at 9. Tickets are $4.

Giant Sand, a local favorite, comes to 7 Black Cats tonight, with Das Weeth Experience and Peter Ott opening up at 9 p.m.

The Marvelous 3 are at Gotham on Sunday, along with Dovetail Joint. Doors at 8, show at 9. Tickets are $5 in advance, all ages.
