University police arrested a Tucson man on suspicion of drunken driving Sunday morning after an officer saw a passenger in the man's truck throw a beer can at another car, police reports stated.

The officer was driving east on East Sixth Street just west of North Campbell Avenue at 12:58 a.m., when he saw a red 1998 Dodge pickup truck reportedly speeding in a 35 mph zone. The officer clocked the man at 59 mph on his radar, reports stated.

The truck stopped for a light at the intersection of Campbell and East Broadway Boulevard.

The officer saw a passenger in the truck throw "a beer can from the car and on to the roof" of a blue Chevrolet Camaro, reports stated.

Police pulled over the truck and spoke to the driver, Ian Lance Botthof, 18, of the 5600 block of North Camino de la Noche.

Botthof told the officer he was chasing the Camaro because "those guys were messing with us," reports stated.

The officer found an open 12-pack of beer in Botthof's vehicle, reports stated.

After conducting field sobriety tests on Botthof, his blood alcohol level was tested at .195, reports stated.

Police cited Botthof on suspicion of driving under the influence, extreme DUI, DUI with a blood alcohol level above .10 and speeding.

The passenger in his car, a 17-year-old Tucson resident, was cited on suspicion of underage drinking after police tested his BAC at .081, reports stated.

Botthof was released to a family friend.

A Tucson man called police Sunday afternoon after his girlfriend told him she "wanted to kill herself," police reports stated.

The man told police he and his girlfriend, a resident in Kaibab-Huachuca dorm, 922 E. Fourth St., had recently ended their relationship.

He told officers that when he spoke with the woman two hours earlier, she reportedly told him "she would try to make it look like an accident," reports stated.

Police arrived at the student's room shortly after 5 p.m. and were unable to contact her. The officer told a resident assistant to contact UAPD when she returned.

Police returned to her room at 7:54 p.m., but the student was still not present.

The officer spoke with the hall director at 9:35 p.m. The director told police the student convinced him she would be fine and was in a friend's room.

The student reportedly told the hall director she would not harm herself and was planning to stay the night with her friend, reports stated.

Sunday morning at 12:06 a.m., an officer was patrolling in the Main Gate Garage, 815 E. Second St., when he spotted a young woman, later identified to be the Kaibab-Huachuca resident, sitting on the garage ledge, reports stated.

The officer talked the student off the ledge and took her back to her residence hall.

She told the officer she "never thought of hurting herself before but thought about jumping," reports stated.

A counselor from the Mobile Acute Crisis team came to the students room and spoke with her. She voluntarily admitted herself into Palo Verde Hospital, reports stated.

A student called police Monday morning after she received a harassing call from a man using the name "Greg," police reports stated.

The Yavapai dorm resident told police she received a call at 12:30 a.m. from a man who had called her on previous occasions.

"Greg" asked her what her "favorite sexual position was," reports stated.

The student told the man to stop calling her and she hung up on him, reports stated.

Police told the student to attempt to trace "Greg's" calls.

A student called police Monday afternoon after discovering his truck tire was slashed, police reports stated.

The student told police he parked his red 1998 Chevrolet pickup truck in a UA lot on the corner of East Sixth Street and North Tyndall Avenue at 10 p.m.

When the student returned to his truck at 3:40 p.m. Monday, he discovered his rear left tire slashed, reports stated.

The student said he took the tire to a repair store, where an employee told him a knife was probably used during the incident, reports stated.
