To the editor,

Ahahahaha. Tony Carnevale has an unpleasant experience at Chuck E. Cheese's ("My date with Chuck E.", June 16). His pals take him out for a bit of kitchy fun, and whoa! Look out! There are kr-razy life-sized mice and animatronic critters! What in the hell would these things ever be doing in such a place?

No doubt a horrible place, but Mr. Carnevale, watch what you say. "Auschwitz for kids?"

No. Auschwitz was Auschwitz for kids, and it is in extraordinarily bad taste to make reference to a dopey theme restaurant as such. Simple math: Jokes + Holocaust = Really, really offensive.

I won't lecture you on what happened there. I assume you know. I will, however, remind you that the sacred memory of the victims of that horrific place should not be toyed with. This is something upon which most civilized people have come to agree. I should hope, Mr. Carnevale, that if you yourself do not come to respect that memory, you will at least respect those that do.
