Sad to see America killing its young
To the editor,
I thought that Mary Fan's article, "Reason reigns the 'morning after'" was an excellent piece of writing. It was well-thought, clear and concise.
However, I am against abortion. I have never picketed a clinic or in any way abused a woman who has had an abortion. I simply cannot reconcile the taking of a human life, no matter its stage of development.
This opinion is my own and not based upon the teachings of my parents, my school, or even St. Augustine. I took a logical look at the facts and decided for myself.
This makes me a direct contradiction to the statement, "Perhaps pro-lifers believe as they do less because of principles and careful reasoning and more because of conditioning."
I believe that this pill is just as immoral as late term abortions.
I cannot tell you how greatly it saddens me to think that later generations will look back on America as the killers of our young.
However, I do not want to force or bully anyone around to agreeing with me. I believe that the columnist's logic is as good as mine, and that the morality of abortion is not a matter of opinion.
If we both look at this with total honesty, we should end up with the same conclusion.
My point is that pro-lifers do think and reason. There is more to our position than Mary seems to realize.
I do not want to "arbitrate the lifestyles and lives of others." I just don't want to see any more babies die.
