Junior midfielder Jill Micone (17) tries to nab the ball from a NAU player Sept. 28. The women's soccer team travels up the road tonight to play rival ASU in Tempe at 6.

The UA women's soccer team will try to turn around its recent road record of 0-2 with a victory against rival Arizona State tonight in Tempe at 6.

"We're basically thinking of the game as a new start," UA junior defender Jill Micone said.

"We're just concentrating on doing our best, and one of our greatest accomplishments would be to beat ASU. They have beaten some teams we've struggled with and they're our rival, so it's a big game."

The Wildcats (3-6-1 overall, 0-2-0 Pacific 10 Conference) opened Pac-10 play last weekend in the Bay Area, falling to California 4-1 and Stanford 8-1. ASU (5-7-0, 2-1-0) came home from the Bay with a split, beating Stanford 2-1 and losing 2-1 to Cal.

"Last weekend was a real tough weekend," assistant coach Bruce Caris said. "We've spent the past week looking at films, addressing the matters we needed to. And now we're ready to put this weekend behind us and return to the good soccer we were playing before it."
