McAlister's interception helped turned back Oregon's initial scoring drive, and the Ducks never were able to threaten Arizona again as the Wildcats rolled to a 38-3 blow-out win. The win moved Arizona to No. 10 in the Associated Press Top 25 and gave the Wildcats sole possession of second place in the Pacific 10 Conference.
