The UA volleyball team came up empty-handed in their final road trip of the regular season, losing to UCLA and Southern Cal.

The Bruins (11-10, 10-4) swapped places with Arizona after a 15-10, 15-3, 15-13 sweep Sunday afternoon. Arizona (18-6, 9-6) dropped into fourth place in the Pacific 10 Conference standings, while UCLA moved up a notch into third.

Freshman Kristee Porter had 28 kills for UCLA against Arizona, while Elisabeth Bachman and Ashley Bowles combined for 36 kills and one error. The three Bruins accounted for all but seven of UCLA's 71 kills.

Sophomore middle blocker Marisa DaLee continued her strong play, hitting .556 with 12 kills. She continues to lead the Pac-10 in hitting percentage, improving to .402 on the season.

Junior Raelene Elam and senior Keisha Johnson Demps each had nine kills, while freshman Jill Talbot and sophomore Allison Napier each recorded seven kills.

Friday night, No. 11 USC swept Arizona 15-9, 15-11, 15-13. USC improved to 16-4, 11-2 after the win. They stand alone in second place in the conference.

The senior duo Jennifer Kessy and Jasmina Marinkovic combined for 37 kills for the Trojans. Marinkovic had 19 kills, while Kessy hit .375.

Senior setter broke the USC career assist record with 47 assists.

Johnson Demps led all players with 21 kills and a .381 hitting percentage. Freshman outside hitter Nadia Sefferovich, coming off an ankle injury, had four assists, four service aces and seven digs.

The weekend sweep marked Arizona's first 0-2 weekend since losing to the Washington schools in October 1996.
