Rating 'Police Beat'

To the editor:

Why do you find it necessary to print the exact conversations in Police Beat? I don't advocate censorship in every form, but the kind of stuff you continue to print would be just as well served by saying that the offender made some obscene comments.

It is obvious that these comments were less than constructive in the first place, or the victims wouldn't be calling the police. Yet you so casually print these words in their entirety as if it were your journalistic right and obligation.

You obviously don't want a job in professional journalism because in professional newspapers the writers take time to make sure that their material serves the majority audience.

Your sludge serves patrons of porn shops like Pee Wee Herman. At least give us a warning in the future that your version of police beat contains material not suited for all audiences.
