A university employee called police Wednesday afternoon after she received a collect call from a prison inmate at her office, police reports stated.

The woman told police she and other employees of the Student Health Center, 1541 E. University Blvd., had received collect calls from a man who called himself "Dan" on Monday at 11 a.m., Tuesday at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. and again on Wednesday at 11 a.m.

"Dan" said he was calling from a prison in California, reports stated.

Police told the employee to document the times of the calls and alert police if it continues.


A UA Parking and Transportation Services employee called police Wednesday afternoon after he saw a car strike another car in a parking lot, police reports stated.

The employee told police he was writing up a citation in a visitor's parking lot located at the corner of North Campus Drive and North Mountain Avenue at 1 p.m. when he saw a gold 1997 Isuzu pull into a parking space next to a truck and strike it.

According to reports, the driver of the Isuzu didn't have enough room to get into the spot and the front left side of the Isuzu struck the right rear end of the truck, leaving a 2-foot scrape.

The employee told police the driver laughed and then drove out of the lot, reports stated.

The employee also said he was able to get the license plate and gave a description of the driver to police, reports stated.

According to reports, the left front turn signal of the Isuzu was damaged.

The employee left a note on the damaged blue 1985 Ford truck.

The owner of the truck found the damage and the note at 3 p.m. He called police and told them he would press charges if the driver of the Isuzu was found, reports stated.


An employee called police Tuesday morning after a student employee checked voice mail and heard a bomb threat message, police reports stated.

The student employee went to work in an office in McClelland Hall, 1130 E. Helen St., and checked the messages at 8:05 a.m.

Another employee played the message for officers. According to reports, the voice on the message was male and very muffled. He said there was a bomb in the building and it was going to blow up. He also said it was the last warning he would give, reports stated.

Officers and employees searched the first floor but found nothing suspicious, reports stated.

Officers gave the message to UAPD detectives to investigate.


A student called police Wednesday afternoon because she felt threatened by a man she kept running into at Sam's Place, 1303 E. University Blvd., police reports stated.

The woman told police she received a call Oct. 28 from a man she had met at Sam's Place while playing pool. She told police she was in the game hall Nov. 2 when she saw the man there and told him to stop calling her, reports stated.

The manager of Sam's Place wanted the student to file a report to be documented.


A student called police Wednesday afternoon after his truck was broken into.

According to police reports, the student told police he parked his 1985 beige Toyota truck by the Music building, 1017 N. Olive St., on Nov. 9 at 8 a.m. When he returned at 3 p.m., his compact discs, worth $505, were gone.

The student told police he left his driver's side window slightly rolled down, reports stated.
