I'll be the first to admit that I'm excited as hell about Arizona going to the Rose Bowl, even if the Wildcats are facing Wisconsin, the Big 10's third-best team. But there's also a part of me that is waiting for the official word to happen this Sunday on the Bowl Championship Selection Show before I book my trip to Pasadena.

First of all, I don't trust UCLA; second, I don't trust the BCS computer.

I wish Hurricane Georges never forced the postponement of the UCLA-Miami game in September, because that was when the Bruins were playing their best. Aside from a solid performance against Southern Cal, the Bruins have looked pretty shaky, barely defeating Stanford and Oregon State. The Hurricanes are coming off their worst loss ever to Syracuse, and want to bounce back with an upset.

Fortunately, UCLA remains No. 2 in the BCS poll. With the top three teams playing this weekend, anything can happen. And from what I've learned in this life, anything will happen. Take for instance:

Kordell Stewart and Doug Flutie performing the ultimate Hail Mary's against Michigan and Miami.

Nebraska defeating Missouri last season thanks to the Nebraska player kicking the ball just inches off the ground and into his teammate's hands. Nebraska wins the co-national championship.

Gino Torretta, Andre Ware and Charlie Ward winning the Heisman Trophy. Charlie Ward was amazing with Florida State, but has never played a day in the NFL, opting for the NBA instead.

So what's from stopping a bunch of computers from giving Kansas State a couple more points and UCLA a couple less? Remember, we live in a country that gives the Pac-10 no respect, and a country where strength of schedule means almost nothing. Remember Nebraska?

Whatever happens, this season will be remembered on that Friday night after Thanksgiving, when Brad Brennan and a couple of other players helped fans attempt to tear down the goal posts. Had it not been for the riot police, those things would have been down in another 15-20 minutes.

Thanks for a great season, guys.
