Speaking of things I'd like to see ... I'd like to see Tennessee, UCLA and Kansas State all lose this weekend. Then, when Florida State and Ohio State tie in the Fiesta Bowl they look so horrible that Arizona - which of course defeated Nebraska in the Holiday Bowl - gets voted national champion ... Hey, it could happen ...

I'd like to see someone teach Brigham Young fans that it's actually best to be winning a game before you start chanting "overrated" ...

I'd like to see that Arizona forward Gene Edgerson continues to play his game despite being suspended for an elbow-throwing incident. Some say it was flagrant, some say it wasn't. Perhaps he is not guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt ...

I'd like to see the NBA lockout last so long that Patrick Ewing is forced to retire because he's too old to play. So what's that? About six more months ...

I'd like to see Trung Canidate given serious consideration for the 1999 Heisman Trophy ...

I'd like to see - just once - somebody tell Arizona State coach Bruce Snyder what he really is: A .500 coach who had a fluke season in '97. This guy makes a full hundred grand a year more than Dick Tomey and I'm pretty sure Snyder couldn't win the rivalry game if Arizona was going ironman ...

I'd like to see Arizona add a fourth non-conference game like it did this year. As it stands now, the Wildcats will face Texas Christian, UTEP and Middle Tennessee State next year. C'mon guys ...

I'd like to see Albert Belle get the recognition he deserves in Baltimore. The guy had better numbers than Mo Vaughn and Bernie Williams last year and he finished eighth in MVP voting ...

I'd like to see fewer bitter ex-jocks in the sports journalism business who think a varsity letter in bench warming and a couple of years of intramural softball makes them smarter than me ...

I'd like to see a good Kevin Costner movie that's not about baseball ...

I'd like to see more shows dedicated to bass fishing. That way, when I'm feeling blue, I can turn to that channel and go, "Wow, at least I'm not that guy" ...

I'd like to see Dick Vitale pick one team as his best in the country and stick to it for two straight weeks ...

I'd like to see students given consideration for quality seats at the Rose Bowl if Arizona gets selected ...

A guy can hope can't he?
