Sick of Nike-bashing

To the editor,

I would like to emphasize that I am neither for nor against Nike Corporation. However, I am totally sick and tired of every single communist on this campus "coming out of the closet" by bashing the so called "misconduct" of the Nike Corporation.

The fact is, Nike has one goal - that goal is to remain a competitive and profitable business.

There is not a single company that does not exploit something. People need to realize that in the private sector, nothing is illegal until you're caught. Well, just like Cathy Lee Gifford, Nike was caught. However, do I blame Nike for child labor? Do I blame the consumers that buy their products? NO!!! Or how about Michael Jordan for accepting money from such capitalist pigs? Again, I don't blame the benevolent, basketball hero.

I blame the communists on this campus and their idea of a "perfect world" in which everything is equal, and there is no incentive. Why don't you all go back to your political nirvana. But, on your way, consider this: IT DOESN'T EXIST!!!

This argument is 100 percent biased. That bias is towards capitalism.

I believe that corporate America has done far more better for this world than otherwise. I believe that Nike is just another company looking for the dollar. And I believe that the University of Arizona is looking for its own dollar by entertaining contracts from companies like Nike.

Is that such a bad thing? Isn't that just the American Way - the same way that has propelled us to the most productive, valuable, and innovative country in the history of the world?

Call me the villain for supporting Nike and the University of Arizona, but I don't consider myself as such. Better yet, call me a striver for the American Dream and a person who wants to maximize the benefits to this world as a whole.

People need to realize how America (and the world) as a whole now thinks: "If the benefits outweigh the costs, then by golly JUST DO IT!"
