Former UA men's basketball star Miles Simon was arrested last month for allegedly trespassing on the grounds of baseball star Albert Belle's Tucson home after a dispute over a girlfriend.

Simon, whose pre-trial hearing in Tucson City Court is scheduled for next Wednesday, was cited Dec. 15 after he and two other men went to Belle's home looking for Simon's girlfriend, according to a Tucson Police Department report.

Simon, 23, told police that he and the men, Mike Lee Karich, 23, of Tucson, and Darren Hite, 22, of Irvine, Calif. had gone to Belle's home looking for the girlfriend after he failed to reach her by phone, the report stated.

Simon told police he was in town for a UA versus Cal-Irvine basketball game and had heard his girlfriend was cheating on him with Belle, a Baltimore Orioles outfielder, according to the report.

Belle called Tucson police shortly before 1 a.m. after Simon and two other men arrived on his property and knocked on his door, according to the report.

Belle told police he asked Simon not to come to his house, the report stated. Simon told police Belle never told him not to come over, according to the report.

When officers arrived, Karich, "was standing at Belle's door and Simon and Hite were standing at the walkway leading to the front door," the report stated.

The three men were cited on suspicion of trespassing and released. Belle told officers he wanted to press charges.

Simon was awarded Most Outstanding Payer in the 1997 Final Four championship and was named first-team All-American last season by the Associated Press.
