Clinton defenders lose credibility, souls

To the editor,

This letter is in response to Jon Ward's column entitled "Porn King Theory" as well as the column "Give the nation a grand senate trial."

First of all, I cannot understand why liberals insist on standing up for President Clinton. Bill Clinton IS the executive branch of government in this country and must be an exemplary example of moral character, honesty and leadership.

However, he has disgraced his office and his country by committing felonies while in office and dragging the country through an impeachment trial that could have been avoided by the president honoring his country and resigning.

Clinton did not simply lie about sex, he lied in order to fix a court case, depriving Paula Jones of the right to due process, and continued to cover it up any way he could. This leads to my next point, which is that the Republicans in the house should be commended for NOT being swayed by popular opinion, but rather the constitution of this country and the rule of law.

As for Larry Flynt, it is truly scary that this man with an extreme left-wing agenda can affect the government by trying to destroy house Republicans like Bob Barr. This is only an attempt to save Bill Clinton, not to expose hypocrisy.

None of the Republican house managers for the senate trial have been accused of perjury or obstruction of justice, so how can they be hypocrites?

The real hypocrites are the Democrats who continue to say that this whole process is a "partisan witchhunt" or something of that nature.

Democrats cry for bipartisanship, yet to them this means that everything must be as they want it. By defending Bill Clinton's actions, the Democratic party and Clinton supporters have lost credibility as well as their souls.
