Volleyball sweeps San Diego State in season opener

Sophomore outside hitter Allison Napier had a career-high 18 kills, leading Arizona to a 15-6, 16-14, 18-16 win over San Diego State in the season-opener last night in San Diego.

Napier had a team-high .412 hitting percentage, including nine digs. Overall, Arizona had 59 kills and hit .294 to SDSU's 42 kills and .134.

Senior middle blocker Keisha Johnson Demps had 16 kills and a .355 hitting percentage, and junior outside hitter Raelene Elam had 11 kills. Freshman setter Dana Burkholder recorded 47 assists in her Wildcat debut. Sophomore middle blocker Marisa DaLee had 6 kills. Sophomore setter Nicole McIntyre had 12 digs.

Sophomore outside hitter Andrea Arroyo led the Aztecs with 14 kills.

San Diego State had game point in each of the final two sets, but failed to capitalize on both chances.
