The UA women's tennis team is hosting an invitational this weekend after playing all of its previous matches earlier this spring and in the fall on the road.

The Wildcats' opponents this weekend are Kansas State today at 11 a.m., San Diego tomorrow at 11 a.m. and Mississippi, which is ranked 6th in the nation, Sunday morning at 10. The UA women are ranked 24th going into the invitational.

"There will be good competition, but I believe we are right up there with Mississippi," women's tennis head coach Stephanie London said.

The tennis team this year is much younger than in the past with five freshmen, two sophomores, and only one junior and one senior making up the team.

"Our team has improved more than any other team coming, even though we are young," London said.

In the past tournaments senior Monique Allegre was the lone Wildcat to make it past the first round at the National Collegiate Tennis Classic held Jan. 15-17. Allegre and freshman Lindsay Blau made it to the semifinals at the Pacific 10 Conference Indoor Championship held Jan. 8-10.

"A set line up for this weekend has not been set yet," London said. "They are all incredible; there will be a lot of rotations this season."
