Two pole vaulters qualify for NCAA's

Three UA pole vaulters competed this weekend at the Silver State Games in Reno, Nev., and two came home with NCAA provisional qualifying marks.

Junior Jeff Dutoit, a transfer from Wichita State, qualified with a personal indoor best of 17'8". Junior Andrea Neary also qualified provisionally for the NCAAs with an 11'6", which broke her personal best height of 10'4" and the UA school record of 11'3".

Freshman Mike Mortensen had a 16'9" in his first collegiate meet, nine inches better than his previous best.

Also this weekend, senior distance runner Abdi Abdirahman came in fifth at the San Diego Indoor Games in the 3,000-meters. Abdirahman finished with a time of 8 minutes, 29.76 seconds.
