UA department hosts local fund-raiser
The UA Women's Studies Advisory Council has invited three prominent female authors to share their paths to success and reveal what inspired them to pick up a pen.
The event, titled "A Writer's Journey: Real and Imaginary," will put authors Sharon Kahn, Miriam Grace Monfredo and Carolina Garcia-Aguilera in the spotlight during a panel discussion and question and answer period.

Kahn, a UA College of Law graduate, penned Fax Me a Bagel. - a mystery novel about a rabbi's wife. The book's inspiration was her personal life, as Kahn has been married to a rabbi for 39 years.
Monfredo, a former historian and librarian, based her book The Stalking Horse on historical events during the Civil War.
Garcia-Aguilera will discuss her Bloody Waters., in which she integrates her past as a private detective into the narrative.
The authors can expect a 200-person turnout, according to Pat Hnilo, program coordinator for the University of Arizona Women's Studies Department.
"This is our primary fundraising event of the year," Hnilo said. "It should be an even better turnout than in the past due to an increase in advertising efforts."
Proceeds from the event go to benefit student scholarships and faculty research through the Women's Studies Department.
