To the editor:

In all my years as mascot of this school, I have never seen our fans react the way they did last night (Thur., Jan. 28). Often our fans are considered stoic and lifeless at best. Most of the time they sit and yell at me to sit down as well. This changed during the UA vs. Stanford game.

Our fans were nuts. McKale center was a difficult place to play (Thursday) night, a tradition I'd like to see continue from this moment on.

Basketball games were not meant to be social outings in a relaxed atmosphere, or a place to catch up on the week's events with friends. Instead, they are supposed to be a place where

our fans show up to support our team and participate actively with our team to help pull off a win. This kind of support fuels our athletes and makes a name for our program.

My plea is for students and alumni alike: let's make McKale center a place where other teams fear to play. I don't want to wait another 13 years to storm the court.
