Icecats accept bid to nationals
Icecats head coach Leo Golembiewski accepted a club record 17th straight bid to the American Collegiate Hockey Association's national championship tournament yesterday.
The tournament takes place March 3-6 in Newark, Del.
"I'm obviously very proud," Golembiewski said. "This is our 17th straight year in the tournament and it shows a great level of consistency for our program."
Golembiewski did admit feeling last night's 3-3 tie with Delaware "a bit of a letdown" for an organization that celebrated his 400th career victory over the weekend and was informed of the seeding for the tournament Wednesday morning.
"The seedings will be based entirely on how we finish the next two weeks off," Golembiewski said. "Right now, we're 4th in the nation and would like to either stay there or move up." - Ryan Finley
