UA women's basketball coach Joan Bonvicini was not happy with the lack of aggressive play during regulation time of Saturday night's game at Arizona State.

However, she was very pleased with how aggressive the team played in overtime, jumping out on a 9-0 run and putting the game out of reach.

"It was a tough game," she said. "We didn't play particularly well until overtime. We weren't very aggressive on offense and we weren't very aggressive on defense."

Arizona switched to a zone in overtime, forcing five Sun Devil turnovers.

"One of the assistants told me to play a zone, and it really paid dividends," Bonvicini said. "We got some traps and steals out of it. It changed the momentum of the game."

Sophomore guard Reshea Bristol led Arizona with 20 points. Junior forward Angela Lackey had 16 points and seven rebounds. Junior guards Felecity Willis and Lisa Griffith had 10 points apiece.

Bonvicini already has locker room material for next season after ASU freshman Theresa Jantzen said that ASU should have won and they can beat Arizona easily.

"I think we can play better than we did at ASU," Bonvicini said. "The players know that and will be looking forward to practice this week."

This weekend was the second and final time that Arizona would play only one conference game in a week. The team has four of its final six games on the road, so the Wildcats took advantage of focusing on one team and putting all their energy into it.

For Arizona freshman Jen Callahan, a Scottsdale native, the game was a chance to go home.

"It was fun," she said. "It's always good going home and getting to play Arizona State. I've always watched the games and playing in it was a good experience."

Arizona heads back on the road this weekend traveling to Oregon to face Oregon State on Friday and Oregon on Sunday. Usually, conference games are held on Thursdays and Saturdays, but the Oregon schools play on Fridays and Sundays when they are at home.

Oregon is tied for first in the Pac-10 and defeated conference co-leader UCLA in Eugene last weekend. Arizona beat the Ducks at McKale Center when Oregon was ranked No. 25.

"We control our own destiny, I keep saying that," Bonvicini said. "Both of those teams are very good, and it's an important weekend for us."
