Cool guitar - or whatever the hell that is. Hey, they're from Russia. Catch Trio Voronezh Thursday.

Thursday, Oct. 29

Fans of the TV show Dharma & Greg can laugh at Jaz Kaner in person at Laff's Cafe, 2900 E. Broadway Blvd. The sitcom's star is appearing at the Tucson's favorite local house of comedy through Nov. 1. Tonight is college discount night. 8 p.m. Phone 32-FUNNY for reservations.

Trio Voronezh, a trio of young Russian chamber musicians, will perform tonight at Catalina United Methodist Church, 2700 E. Speedway Blvd. This performance is sponsored by UApresents, as part of the "Sites and Surroundings" series. From humble beginnings springs Trio Voronezh, who began its career playing in a Frankfurt subway. Since, the members have found international success, having wowed the crowds at the Oregon Bach Festival in 1996 with their mix of works, from Bach, Vivaldi, Tchaikovsky to gypsy dances, tangos and popular songs. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20, half-price for students with ID, available through the Centennial Hall box office, 621-3341.

Friday, Oct. 30

Put on your bunny ears and head to the Devil's Night Masquerade Party at the Rialto Theatre, 318 E. Congress St. While Not Breathing and Interlocking Grip jam onstage, DJs JD from L.A., Freeze, Matt McCoy and Nathan Wade will spin your faves. If your costume rocks, you may win $100. Tickets $10. 9 p.m.-3 a.m. Phone 740-0126.

This is a show not to be missed, kiddies, but it's also a show not for the meek. Deadbolt, often referred to as "the scariest band in America," will be making a heroic hell-raising stop at Club Congress, 311 E. Congress St., tonight, with Cadillac Angels, James Dead and interlude music spun by The Point's Hot Rod Ron. Deadbolt has been adding names to its roster of insanely loyal fans with sometimes brooding, sometimes rollicking rockabilly, which sort of sounds like Tom Waits, the Velvet Underground and Dick Dale jamming in the back of a convertible while rolling through the desert. Deadbolt's live show has been known to include pyrotechnics, chainsaws and plenty of hijinks. Scared yet? You should be. Tickets for the 21-and-over show are $5. Phone 622-8848.

If you haven't checked out "Dia de los Muertos" (Day of the Dead), the mixed media exhibit featuring local Mexican artists, tonight is your last chance. The closing reception is the kick-off to the first annual Dia de los Muertos festival. Tucson/Pima Arts Council Community Gallery, 240 N. Stone Ave. 8:30 a.m.- 5 p.m. Mon.-Fri. Phone 298-8268

Saturday, Oct. 31
