Changes in tuition bill

By Norma J. Salas

Talk about this story

To the editor,

The articles, "Regents denounce state legislative bills" and "In-state tuition for Nevada, Utah bad for state," which appear in the January 24 and January 25 issues of the Wildcat imply that students in Clark County, Nevada and Washington County in Utah can attend ASU, NAU or the U of A at resident tuition rates. In fact, the Board of Regents approved a policy change that would allow these students to qualify for in-state tuition to attend university programs that are conducted in partnership with Mohave Community College at that location only. Since NAU is the only university to provide courses at that location, only NAU courses are affected. Mohave Community College is well beyond the geographic service areas of ASU and the U of A and they are not expected to offer programs at Mohave Community College.
